Are you considering self-funding private treatment for varicose veins? If so, you will probably be researching the treatment options and prices in your local area. Fees vary considerably. Some clinics offer fixed-price packages, and others state “From” fees, making it hard to establish the full cost of your treatment. At Premier Veins, we use a transparent pricing model so that you understand all costs at every stage of your treatment plan.
This article explains:
- Our fixed-price treatment model
- Typical costs at each stage of your treatment journey
- The answers to common questions about varicose veins treatment cost
The Premier Veins pricing model
When you become a patient with Premier Veins, we explain treatment prices, so you always know where you stand. Our fixed-price packages include the cost of treatment and follow-up, including scans. This means that you will know the exact cost of your package from the moment we agree your treatment plan.
Treating single/multiple veins in one leg (unilateral procedure)
Some clinics charge per vein, which results in an inflated end price for the patient. We don’t do this at Premier Veins. The overheads for treating multiple veins in one session are only marginally more than the overheads involved in treating a single vein. We want to pass that cost saving on to you.
Treating single/multiple veins in both legs (bilateral procedure)
If you require treatment in both legs, this will happen as two separate procedures. In most cases, we can treat the first leg on the same day as your consultation. We keep the cost of treating two legs as low as possible by:
- Reusing your compression stockings for the second leg
- Conducting the follow-up for your first leg at the same time as treating your second leg, so there is no need for an additional consultation
Typical costs at each stage of your treatment journey
Stage 1: Mini-consultation (remote/face-to-face)
We offer all potential patients a FREE mini-consultation where you can:
- Meet the team and find out more about us
- Learn how we tailor your treatments to your diagnosis and requirements
- Discuss what you can expect from your treatment journey
- Discuss any questions or concerns that you have (including questions about spider vein and varicose vein treatment cost)
Stage 2: Consultation and ultrasound (remote/face-to-face)
If you decide to pursue treatment with us, we will book you in for a full consultation. At your appointment, your consultant will:
- Discuss your medical history, symptoms and treatment goals with you
- Perform any necessary non-invasive investigations, including a duplex scan
- Discuss treatment options with you and recommend your next steps
- Encourage you to take time to discuss thoroughly any issues or concerns
Consultation (remote or face-to-face): £249.00
Duplex ultrasound scan: £149.00
Why is a duplex scan necessary?
Patients that present with superficial thread veins can often have hidden varicose veins. Finding and treating varicose veins makes treating thread veins much more effective. For this reason, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends the use of duplex ultrasound to “confirm the diagnosis of varicose veins and the extent of truncal reflux, and to plan treatment for people with suspected primary or recurrent varicose veins”.
Stage 3: Treatment
Your personal treatment plan and associated costs will be determined by the findings and suitable options identified at your consultation. However, most of our patients require one or more of the treatments listed below.
Radiofrequency ablation with adjuvant ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy
Dual treatment for varicose veins and thread (spider) veins.
Single/multiple veins in one leg: £1,499.00
Single/multiple veins in both legs: £2,499.00
Ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy

Single/multiple veins in one leg: £1,249.00

Single/multiple veins in one leg/both legs: £349.00
Stage 4: Follow-up consultation (remote/face-to-face)
You will need at least one follow-up appointment after treatment.

Common questions about varicose veins treatment cost
Will the NHS treat varicose veins?
The NHS will not usually treat varicose veins for cosmetic reasons. You may qualify for free treatment if you are experiencing pain, discomfort or severe complications.
Will I need more than one treatment session?
Most of our patients only require one treatment session, and this can often be performed on the same day as your consultation. We will be able to assess the likelihood of you needing more than one treatment at your consultation.
