Varicose Vein Removal, Birmingham

At Premier Veins, we work in partnership with you to arrive at the best treatment plan for your specific leg issues and circumstances. Following an initial consultation, we will offer you one or more of the treatment options described below:

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence recommends RFA as the first line of treatment for varicose veins. It is a walk-in-walk-out procedure performed under local anaesthetic.

RFA uses radiofrequency energy to improve the appearance of trunk veins and relieve symptoms such as heaviness, pain and skin irritation. It can also be used alongside Ultrasound-Guided Foam Sclerotherapy to treat more troublesome superficial varicose veins.

RFA only leaves a tiny amount of scarring, bruising or swelling, and the procedure is generally less painful and more convenient than laser treatment. We bandage the treated area using a full-length compression stocking.

Ultrasound-Guided Foam Sclerotherapy (UGFS)

Our quickest, most cost-effective and least invasive treatment for trunk varicose veins and reticular veins. UGFS relieves leg pain and skin irritation and improves the appearance of your legs. This walk-in-walk-out procedure uses local anaesthetic.

We dress your leg with compression pads, a bandage and an elastic compression stocking that you’ll wear for three to five days. You should notice reduced symptoms immediately after treatment, and an improvement in the appearance soon after. It can take up to 12 months to see the final cosmetic results.

Our specialists are highly experienced in this technique and can achieve the very best results for you. We can perform UGFS on its own or alongside endothermal ablation to resolve your leg issues in a single short visit.

Veinlite Transilluminated Microsclerotherapy

This is the most effective treatment for small reticular veins and thread veins. It is a straightforward walk-in-walk-out procedure that takes less than an hour.

We use a special light and a very fine needle to inject the veins with liquid sclerosant. We will dress your leg in a compression stocking to prevent blood from re-entering the treated veins, allowing the body to reabsorb them.

You will usually start to see an improvement within eight weeks. It can take up to eighteen months to achieve full cosmetic results, and patients may need more than one treatment.

“I had a leg ulcer that was extremely slow to heal, but things improved when I met with Mr Claridge and his colleague. Within a few minutes of talking to them, I felt reassured that they could help me. They performed a duplex scan of my leg, explained how use compression hoses to prevent future ulcers and informed me that I would need an ulcer stocking to heal the ulcer. Unfortunately, my GP couldn’t help with fitting these, but Premier Veins were more than happy to assist.

Mr Claridge and his colleague were most welcoming, informative, and proactive in their approach to treating my ulcer. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

Don’t just wait around and hope that your ulcers will heal on their own, get expert
treatment from Premier Veins and put your mind at rest.”
